Janai Lemar

“Problem solving inspires me in everything I do, I’m passionate about making people’s lives that little bit easier.”

Graduate of Architecture

B. Design (Architecture) – University of Newcastle
M. Architecture – University of Newcastle

Janai chose architecture because she wanted to create positive change in the world and hopes to use design and design thinking to make the world a better place. Architecturally she is interested in education, public and disaster relief architecture, as well as urban and landscape design.

Janai joined the SHAC team as a graduate in 2017. Her final major thesis was a study of Architecture in Education which has helped her form a depth of knowledge which has now been put to practical use at SHAC, with Janai immersing herself in regional school projects including the Blackett Award winning St Patrick’s Primary School Lochinvar, St Catherine’s Catholic College and Lake Cathie Primary School.

A stand out experience for Janai in the industry so far has been working with a remote school in Nepal to design their amenities. Janai is passionate about improving people’s lives with inclusive and progressive design. Janai is an intrepid traveller, throwing herself right into the local culture (and food scene) of each new destination she visits.
