SHAC in collaboration with PTW Architects have been shortlisted in an international competition to design a new civic art gallery for the city of Newcastle.
The lofty central atrium space addresses the allée of mature Ficus Hilii trees in Laman Street. Upon entry, the circulation pattern within the building
will become immediately apparent with a café, retail space and temporary exhibitions at ground level, auditorium in the basement below and
an extensive array of top-lit galleries for permanent display on the first floor level.
