Bailey Anderson
“My passion for architecture stems from the perpetual presence of built environments in our daily lives. My goal is to craft spaces that offer a sense of welcome and acceptance to those who inhabit them.”
Graduate of Architecture
B. Design (Architecture) – University of Newcastle
M. Architecture – University of Newcastle
Bailey has over seven years’ experience in building drafting and design, with a background across civil and structural projects, steel frame manufacturing, and project homes before joining SHAC. Bringing strong practical and technical understanding of construction, the BCA, and local planning controls, he is now an integral member of SHAC’s documentation team. Bailey also has advanced skills in physical model making, including 3D printing and laser-cut fabrication.
Growing up with a father who is a certified builder, Bailey was immersed early in the realities of construction and site-based problem solving. This upbringing shaped his pragmatic design approach, focused on producing architecture that is functional, efficient and buildable, without compromising on aesthetic quality.
Bailey’s Master’s thesis explored alternative models for palliative care environments, informed by personal experience and a critique of highly institutionalised healthcare settings. His research examined how architecture can better support dignity, connection and care through form, materiality, and sensory engagement, drawing on holistic principles of place and environment.
Bailey values SHAC’s design culture, collaborative studio environment, and commitment to knowledge-sharing and mentorship. Outside of work, his creative interests include 3D modelling, designing and making bespoke objects, painting, and exploring design ideas through hands-on fabrication. He also enjoys podcasts, audiobooks, ice hockey and camping.
